WESTERN AUSTRALIA'S FIRST WINE REGION

Why the Swan Valley?

The Swan Valley is Western Australia’s oldest wine-producing region and one of the most accessible wine destinations in Australia. Stretching along the banks of the Swan River just 30 minutes from Perth’s CBD, it is home to more than 40 wineries, cellar doors, breweries and gourmet producers.

The region produces a broad range of wine styles, from the bold Shiraz and Verdelho the valley is famous for, through to elegant Chenin Blanc and sparkling wines that consistently attract national attention. Add in artisan chocolate makers, nougat producers, olive groves and providores along the Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail, and you have a full day’s destination that goes well beyond the glass.

Our guided wine tours take the guesswork out of the day. We select the best combination of established estates and boutique producers, arrange your tastings in advance, and take you to the venues most locals still don’t know about.

A DAY IN THE SWAN VALLEY

Your Full Day Wine Tour - What to Expect

Every tour is slightly different depending on the day and season, but here is a typical full-day Swan Valley wine tour schedule:

9:00
AM

Perth CBD Pickup

Your guide collects you from your nominated Perth CBD hotel or meeting point. Comfortable transport, introductions, and a quick overview of the day ahead as you head out through the river valley.

9:30
AM

First Cellar Door – Arrival

Your first stop sets the tone. We typically begin with one of the Swan Valley’s best-known estates. It’s a chance to learn the history of the region and try a flight of their flagship wines with your guide explaining what makes each one distinctive.

11:00
AM

Second Stop – Boutique Producer

The second stop is where things get interesting. A smaller, less-visited producer where you often meet the winemaker in person. Expect honest conversation about the wine, the vintage and what sets the Swan Valley apart from other Australian regions.

12:30
PM

Lunch at a Swan Valley Restaurant

A relaxed, unhurried lunch at one of the valley’s beloved restaurants or vineyard dining rooms. Lunch is included in your tour price. Dietary requirements are noted at the time of booking.

2:00
PM

Third Cellar Door + Afternoon Tasting

Post-lunch we visit one or two more cellar doors, with enough time to browse, purchase and explore the grounds. This is typically where guests discover their favourite wine of the day.

3:30
PM

Optional: Gourmet Stop

Depending on group preference, we may include a stop at one of the Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail’s artisan producers – chocolate, nougat, olive oil or craft beer for those who want a break between tastings.

4:45
PM

Final Tasting & Purchases

Time to revisit a favourite, pick up a bottle or two, and soak in the last of the afternoon light over the vines before heading back to Perth.

~5:00
PM

Return to Perth

Drop-off at Perth CBD or your nominated Perth hotel. Tour typically concludes between 4:45 and 5:30 PM depending on the group.

The best wine tour I’ve ever been on! The team was lovely and every winery was amazing. Everything was seamless from pickup to drop-off and the Limovan itself is something else - highly recommend.

Denny created a great vibe on the bus from the very first minute. Took the whole group to Sandalford and Old Youngs - both were brilliant. The tour was the highlight of our whole trip to Perth.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Swan Valley Wine Tour - Common Questions

Where does the Swan Valley wine tour depart from?

We offer hotel pickup from Perth CBD hotels and a central Perth CBD meeting point. The Swan Valley is approximately 25–30 minutes from the Perth city centre by road. Specific pickup address and time will be confirmed in your booking confirmation email.

Is lunch included in the Swan Valley wine tour?

Yes, lunch is included on all full-day Swan Valley wine tours. We dine at one of the Swan Valley's well-regarded restaurants or vineyard dining rooms. Dietary requirements - vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies - can be accommodated when noted at the time of booking.

How many wineries do you visit on a Swan Valley wine tour?

Full-day tours typically visit 4–5 cellar doors and may include a gourmet producer stop. Half-day tours visit 2–3 venues. We rotate the selection seasonally to offer the best experience and to avoid the busiest tourist windows at each venue.

What is the best time of year to visit the Swan Valley?

The Swan Valley is a year-round destination. Autumn (March–May) is harvest season - the most exciting time to visit if you want to see the winemaking process in action. Spring (September–November) brings beautiful wildflowers and the valley is at its most visually stunning. Summer tours are popular but we recommend starting early; our 9:00 AM departure takes advantage of the cool morning hours.

Can I buy wine at the cellar doors?

Absolutely. Purchasing wine directly from the cellar door is one of the pleasures of the day and helps support the producers who make our tours possible. We carry your purchases in the vehicle throughout the day and ensure they travel home safely. Cases and mixed dozens can often be arranged for later delivery directly from the winery.
